Very few actually seal. In brochures and showrooms, that difference is invisible. On site, and particularly after the first monsoon or during peak summer, it\u2019s a painful reality. At\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grefet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GREFET<\/a>, the difference between a window that closes and one that seals is at the heart of what we consider aluminium windows to be about. Closing is mechanical. Sealing is engineered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"b68e\"><strong>Closing Is an Action. Sealing Is a Result.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"01ae\">A self-closing window does nothing but close. When closed, a sealed window provides a controlled barrier against air, water, noise and dust. The difference between the two is not effort or force. It\u2019s design logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"2be5\"><strong>A sealing window depends on:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consistent gasket compression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressure-balanced profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accurate sash alignment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/grefetinternational.blogspot.com\/2025\/07\/why-tested-hardware-matters-just-as.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hardware<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cpulls\u201d, not simply locks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"8035\">Without them working together, a closed window is nothing but one surface touching another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cd4a\"><strong>Why Your Windows Don\u2019t Close All The Way<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"8a1c\">The difference between a window that closes and one that seals turns out to be frequently about how the window was designed. In a lot of the Indian projects, sealing is an accessory. Something added later. Something adjusted on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"04e9\"><strong>Common reasons sealing fails:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gaskets as fillers, not active parts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No defined compression zones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sealing paths broken at corners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hardware selected for its cost, not load or the geometry resting points on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"0a34\">The window closes. The handle turns. But heat is uneven and there are holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a4c3\"><strong>Sealing Is About the Pressure, Not Thickness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"b15b\">A myth often repeated is that heavier profiles or thicker sections mean better sealing. They don\u2019t. Pressure control does.<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/plans?source=upgrade_membership---post_li_non_moc_upsell--267673b821c1---------------------------------------\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"952d\"><strong>A properly sealed window manages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Where pressure builds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where it releases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How water is redirected<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why the air slows down and gets chaotic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"9187\">We at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grefet.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GREFET<\/a>&nbsp;create assemblies where the sealing takes place by design, not by regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"484e\"><strong>More Than Most People Know, Hardware Matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"1fcd\">Handles and locks are visible. What they do internally isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"feae\"><strong>Hardware is required to, in a sealing window:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Draw the sash evenly into the frame<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain alignment over repeated use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We distribute load, not consolidate it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"24a7\">But if the hard-ware merely closes the window, that sealing will always be a question of strength. And force fades over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a77d\"><strong>Installation is the Sealing Challenge!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"0b4d\">While the system maybe well designed, it can fail if installation doesn\u2019t respect seal logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"e9c9\"><strong>Commonly repeated mistakes during installation we see often:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Frames installed out of square<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over-tightening that distorts profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improvised shimming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drainage paths blocked or altered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"c837\">It\u2019s really important to be make sure that a window is well-behaved when it is installed.
